If you wish to do those practicals in some pioneering projects, we now have the GaiaSis option.  If you could benefit from some intensive help to improve your personal & group effectiveness, note we also offer various personal development courses.

Note that A>B>C, etc., are incremental steps, designed especially to facilitate your progress.

So you can start anywhere & then go on to the next step/s when you are ready to, by simply paying the difference (+ a 20€ admin charge which includes 1hour of personal mentoring on starting the new level).

Levels Beginners to Diploma

We have created this wide range of options by listening attentively to what our students tell us, in order to adapt as much as possible to different circumstances, moments & commitment abilities, etc.   We have courses especially for each stage of learning, eg.

Beginners*  Are you new to Permaculture, or interested but still unsure if this kind of distance-learning could be useful to you or you don't have any projects yet?   There's the free self-study introductory course & also Option A + Option B for this.   Then you can easily step up to the next level if you wish, just by paying the difference.     In these mini-courses we start to get to know you personally & to help you find the best path for you.

Intermediate*   Would you like to study this important science in depth whilst you apply it to your projects & can rely on the support of an international learning community & very experienced tutors?     Then options Option C & Option D are for you.

Advanced* Do you need even more commitment & want a more personal support  for your projects & initiatives?   For this we have created Option E & Option F.   Ideal for people who have already taken Permaculture courses & wish to deepen & perfect their practice, especially recommended for Transition project leaders.

GaiaSis Practical Intensives* Do you want to focus on practice in a place away from home?    All options can be taken in a 'practical intensive' mode, so you can take any level of internship anywhere in the world.

Above you have a table summary with all the training options that we offer, all are Action-Learning programs that combine online training with practicals in your own life, your projects or the site that you choose.    Also below is a detailed explanation of each option.

Each of the options
(A, B, C, etc. that you can see in the first column of the table above)
has it's own page with more details:

Options Details

Horizontal in Table

0) Online e-Book - NodoEspiral of the Permaculture Academy is co-creating a great online e-book of resources & materials which follows the structure of the classes of the Integral Permaculture courses that we offer, expanding the information.

The Manual
http://www.permaculturescience.org/
of Integral PermaCulture, on-line

1) Duration Online version - Taking the online version of the courses means that you do the practical aspects directly in your home & your projects, in your own time, with the support of tutors & colleagues online, & the months specified in the table represent the time that we consider appropriate for completing the program without rushing.   Average duration in months, if you wish you may complete it in less time.

2) Duration with Intensive Practical - The number of months that we consider a minimum in order to complete the online preparation that's necessary to go to the transition project you've chosen to do your practicals.

We consider it's enough time to do the minimum amount of online classes + to take on a design, get to know the project & the people and for us to get to know you well.

Note that this is an intensive option, so the level of practical work expected is quite high, hence the preparation required.

See the GaiaSis Intensive Practicals page for more details.

3) The number of AudioVisual Classes  which are included in each option.   The classes have a duration of 1:30h to 2:30h which you can see at the rhythm that you prefer.   The first class teaches how to listen to the others in the most effective way possible.   Each class focuses on the essential points of the theory & the majority contain original materials which have not been published yet.      You can see the full range of classes in the e-book (the Integral Permaculture Designers Manual), in PermaCultureScience.org, & note you will get 10 of these 50 classes in Option A, 20 in Option B & all 50 + more extra ones in Options C onwards.

4) The Personal Blog each student can reflect on their path & designs, sharing their learning process & interacting with the other students.    It is a great start for a future design portfolio if you wish to go on with the diploma, & an essential discipline in order to integrate what is taught in class with your practice.   We emphasize that dialogue & exchange of experiences is one of the most powerful tools of action learning.

5) A 2h Monthly Meeting with the tutors, where you can put questions, present your designs & share live with the other course members.  Students decide the agendas for these meetings: you can propose anything you wish & have a section of our internal private blogs where to present your proposals for the next meeting.

6) Ongoing Dialogues - Each class is supplemented by a rich & continuous dialogue where we reflect on the contents of the classes & how to put them into practice.   This allows us to really integrate the new models that we are learning about & to weave them into our lived experience.

7) Support & Mentoring for Facilitators in order to design & facilitate a study circle in your area, with support materials & a support group.   This is a great opportunity to start to spread Permaculture in your surrounding & to self-finance your PDC.    Also with this option the participants of your study group have the opportunity to obtain the Permaculture Certificate by paying an extra (162€) if at the end of the year they deliver 2 designs & you have been keeping us up to date with their progress & designs.

8) The Design Portfolio is a great tool for deepening understanding & to get support for your designs & is also the work-book for the Diploma.    You use the portfolio to document your designs & receive the feedback of the tutors, other students & the people that you invite.    We follow your designs & we advise you on them in a continuous manner.

9) Support Groups   with this option you will have access to multiple & varied support groups that we create on the basis of needs & affinities.   For eg. we unite people who are working on similar designs or in similar ways, or whom we estimate need additional support.   We also propose groups for experimenting with techniques we teach on the course or to deepen in some particular subject.   The groups are supervised & organized by the tutors.

10) A rich Audio-Library  you can also download the classes in audio in order to review at any time, as well as a growing audio-library of podcasts, talks & dialogues which widen & deepen the subject of each Integral Permaculture module.
This permits a better use of time & to go much deeper into the subject (total immersion :) of all the materials, which you can listen to in any place (from your mobile phone, mp3 player, etc.)

11) Personal Tutorials with a diploma holder, at 27€ per hour, are included in option F, but you can also request them separately & we've added those we recommend for each option, in the table.
With a discount  you can enjoy an intensive month of tutorials for 92€ for 4 (one each week) as these are very useful if you need some extra support in critical times, for eg. in the practical-intensive programs, when you're changing your life in a radical way, starting or finishing some project, etc.
The personal & focused attention of a very experienced tutor can help you make cuantuum leaps in your development & save you a lot of time, money & effort in the long run.

12) Complete Course Package  The Diploma option includes the two Holistic Development courses we offer.    Both go into much more depth in the personal development side & group skills so we consider these essential in order to work at diploma level (where it is quite probable that you will do quite a bit of facilitation work, negotiation, group or community work, etc.)
Recommended for those who wish to obtain a Diploma in Integral Permaculture in a rapid way & with lots of support.   With this option you have 2years in order to do it all.

Prices & Discounts

From May 2012, we offer an wide scale of options & you can see the various prices of each one in its box in the table above (or click on image below), see first column to the left: Options

Note that A>B>C, etc., are incremental steps, designed especially to facilitate your progress.

Free Self-Study Courses

We have worked very hard over the years to create an ample, flexible yet structured curriculum, and especially an online free Designers Manual for Integral Permaculture to accompany this, not only in order to support our existing & future enrolled students, but also to facilitate self-study for people who prefer this kind of learning.   See the Free Self-Study Courses page.

If you would love to do one of our other courses but don't think you can afford it, please write to us

Internationalizing Prices

Also from May 2012 we are promoting an option of payment by exchange & with this we internationalize prices:

if you live in a country where the exchange rate to Euros is very high, or you can't pay the cost of the course you want to take, you can exchange the equivalent for hours of work

To know how many hours the courses are valued at, simply divide the price in € by 10 (eg. the PDC+ of 561€ has a value of 56 hours).

In order to do this you have to start by enrolling on the Introduction Course, paying the equivalent of 13 hours of work in your area, in euros.

If you live in a country where the exchange rate to Euros is very low or you have ample economic resources, we encourage you to contribute with more, thus helping us to support other people who can't afford it.

Earning 'Permis', our Internal Currency

We also give the option of further discount for students who are able to help us develop the Integral Permaculture Manual & with other administration & translation jobs.

We use "The Permis" as an internal currency to value these trades.
All students can then trade up to 60-70% of further courses in Permis.   You need to be at least enrolled on Option A to start gaining Permis.

Self-Financing Options

In Options D, E & F you get Support & Mentoring for Facilitators which means we support you to facilitate a study circle in your area, with teaching materials & a support group.
This is a great opportunity to start to spread Permaculture in your surrounding but also a great way to self-finance your PDC (as you may charge to facilitate a study group).

Also with these options, the participants of your study group have the opportunity to obtain the Permaculture Certificate by paying an extra (162€) if at the end of the year they deliver 2 designs & you have been keeping us up to date with their progress & designs.
